Many types of Internet scams to be careful of include Nigerian scam letters and the UK lottery scam. African countries besides Nigeria typically include Sierra Leone, Benin and Burkina Faso. All of these countries are located in west Africa. If the email recipient responds to these scam emails, the check scam might follow where the scam victim is asked to cash a fake check. Internet scams also come in different varieties such as phishing that tries to get information using a fake website.
